Criteria for CSMT Membership

Only Professional Level AMTA Members can join the Community Service Massage Team.   AMTA Student Members can participate in events but will not have the benefits of Team Membership.

  1. Professional Level CSMT volunteers must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a Professional AMTA member in good standing and carry AMTA insurance.
  • Hold a New York State Massage Therapy License and current New York State license registration.
  • Submit a CSMT Application Form.
  • Serve as a volunteer for at least one NY Chapter community event per year. (This requirement is currently being waived for members living in areas that do not have scheduled community events in their region of the state.)
  • Sign an agreement to abide by the designated dress code, standards of conduct, and established procedures while representing the AMTA-NY Chapter at community events.
  • Bring a copy of your NYS Registration and your AMTA membership card to outreach events.

 

  1. Professional Level Emergency Response Team (ERT) volunteers must meet the following additional criteria:
  • Successfully complete CSMT training provided by the NY Chapter (where no outreach events are scheduled in their region of the state.)
  • Participate in two CSMT events per year; one outreach event and one ERT training or deployment (actual emergency deployment or mock exercise).  The latter requirement is currently being waived when no ERT deployments (mock or real) are scheduled, and for members

Benefits are as follows:

  • Business cards of team members at every event
  • Free CSMT tee shirt upon completing two events
  • Team Members: Education voucher $25 for every 2 events worked. (Max $100)
  • Team Leaders:  Mileage to and from events paid by Chapter and Education voucher $50 for every 2 events worked.

 

  1. Student Level CSMT volunteers must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a Student AMTA member in good standing.
  • Be currently enrolled in a massage training program approved by the State, or have graduated from a massage training program with license applied for and/or pending.
  • Students currently attending a massage training program must be accompanied by a school clinic supervisor, if doing hands-on work.  Auxiliary and administrative work may be done by non-supervised students and those graduates with license pending.
  • Sign an agreement to abide by the designated dress code, standards of conduct, and established procedures while representing the AMTA-NY Chapter at community events.
