Lobby Day 2019

Join your AMTA-NY Chapter members Tuesday May 7th at the State Capitol!

There have been many changes in Albany since last lobby day including the change of party control of the New York State Senate, new committee chairs being named and dozens of new Senators and Assemblymembers!

New this year is legislation we have been working on with other health care professions (acupuncturists, chiropractors, occupational therapists and physical therapists) to require a practitioner to discuss nonpharmacological treatment alternatives with a patient before prescribing an opioid.  We are in the process of having the legislation introduced and will keep you updated.

In addition, we are still working on inclusion of NYS licensed massage therapists as a provider of massage therapy services that can be reimbursed by NYS Worker’s Compensation. We will also be pursuing efforts to combat illegal practice in our profession.

We will meet on Monday, May 6th for dinner and a briefing. On Tuesday, May 7th we’ll head to the Capitol for a full day of lobbying.

Overnight rooms (shared) will be provided for those traveling distance

Let our voices be heard!
