$1,000 First Prize; $750 Second Prize; $250 Third Prize
The New York Chapter’s Annual Massage School Student’s Essay Contest was established in 1995 to promote the Profession of Massage Therapy..
All students who enter essay contest will receive one year FREE student AMTA Membership!
Write an essay on one of the following topics with relevance to Massage Therapy:
A. Membership in a professional organization (what it means to you and the profession).
B. Participating in volunteer work or outreach projects (with relevance to you and massage
C. Ethics (what they are and how they relate to massage therapy).
D. A view of the future (relating to the massage profession).
E. Research (its value can be a specific area of research).
A. All essays become the property of the AMTA NEW YORK CHAPTER.
B. Essay must be 500 words or less (citations are not part of the word count.)
C. Essay must be double spaced and have a cover sheet.
D Essay must be in a MS Word format.
E. You must be a student currently attending a New York State Department of Education Approved
F. You must include your full name, address, and phone number on cover sheet only.
G. You must provide your school’s name, address and phone number,and anticipated graduation date
on the cover sheet only.
H. The New York Chapter Scholarship Committee will make final judgment of the essays.
I. Only one entry per person.
The top entry will receive a scholarship of one thousand dollars ($1,000), second prize winner will receive a seven
hundred and fifty dollar ($750) scholarship, and third prize winner will receive a two hundred and fifty dollar ($250)
The scholarships will be awarded at the AMTANY Chapter’s Annual Convention. Each winner will be notified
by email during the month of March, along with the information regarding the convention. If a winner is unable to attend
the convention, their award will be mailed immediately following the convention.

ANY SUBMISSIONS NOT MEETING THE ABOVE CRITERIA WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED
THE AMTA NEW YORK CHAPTER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISCONTINUE THIS SCHOLARSHIP AT ANY TIME
