New York Chapter’s 2019 Annual Massage School Student’s Essay Contest

 $1,000 First Prize               $600 Second Prize            $400 Third Prize

The New York Chapter’s Annual Massage School Student Essay Contest was established in 1995 to promote the profession of massage therapy.

TO ENTER:

Write an essay on one of the following topics with relevance to massage therapy:

  1. Membership in a professional organization (what it means to you and the profession).
  2. Participating in volunteer work or outreach projects (with relevance to you and massage therapy).
  3. Ethics (what they are and how they relate to massage therapy).
  4. A view of the future (relating to the massage profession).
  5. Research (its value – can be a specific area of research).

CONTEST RULES:

  1. All essays become the property of the AMTA – NEW YORK CHAPTER.
  2. Essay must be 500 words or less (citations are not part of the word count).
  3. Essay must be double-spaced.
  4. Essay must be in a MS Word, plain text, or Adobe Acrobat (.doc, .docx, .txt, pdf) format.
  5. You must be a student currently attending a New York State Department of Education Approved school.
  6. At the beginning of your essay, you must include your full name, address, and phone number and email address as well as
    your school’s name, address and phone number, and date of anticipated graduation date. Please do not just include it in your email
    reply, it should be a part of your actual essay submission attachment.
    This does not count as part of your 500 limit.   If this information is not included within your written submission, your essay will be disqualified.
  7. The New York Chapter Scholarship Committee will make final judgment of the essays.

Only one entry per person

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS:

The top entry will receive a scholarship of one thousand dollars ($1,000), second prize winner will receive a six hundred dollar ($600) scholarship, and third prize winner will receive a four hundred dollar ($400) scholarship.
Winners will BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE a W9 FORM .
The scholarships will be awarded at the AMTA-NY Chapter’s Annual Convention taking place in Tarrytown, NY April 12-14, 2019.
Each winner will be notified by email during the month of March, along with the information regarding the convention. If a winner is unable to attend the convention, their award will be mailed immediately following the convention.

THE AMTA-NEW YORK CHAPTER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISCONTINUE THIS SCHOLARSHIP AT ANY TIME
