Class Description:
The abdominal cylinder is shaped like a flexible, powerful, stable/mobile soup can. Diaphragm is top, pelvic floor is bottom, and the outside is abdominal and spinal muscles, tough mobile layers of fascia. Through the center courses illiopsoas from top back to lower front. There’s only one spine so the abdomen is the low back. This class approaches the anatomy of this area as a whole to give you new ways to think about the core and new approaches to balance, empower and soothe it.
What to Bring: massage table, sheets, lubricant, pen, water bottle, and a willingness to look at and do massage in totally different ways than you have done before!
We welcome all NYS licensed massage therapists, NYS professionals who are licensed to provide massage (physicians, nurses, podiatrists, physical therapists, chiropractors) and currently enrolled massage therapy students to our classes. Per New York State law, you must either have a New York State license to participate in the hands-on portions or, in the case of massage therapy students, be directly supervised by your instructor or other licensed massage therapist.
