Class Description: The Periodized approach to sports massage aligns massage treatments with an athlete’s or client’s training program. This approach utilizes deep tissue, neuromuscular, and myofascial techniques to optimize recovery and remove the barriers to peak performance. Movement assessment guides the application of massage techniques that are geared towards addressing areas of kinetic chain dysfunction, subconscious pain, and inefficient movement patterns. Techniques are applied with movement both on and off the table. These assessment and massage techniques can be used for improving movement patterns in any and all clients, not just athletes.
This course is part of the 3-course series which comprises the “Periodization of Sports Massage Certification”. Courses can be taken in any order, which is why this course may be taken before the “Periodized Sports Massage” course. However, it is recommended that students have experience in deep tissue, orthopedic, and trigger point massage and assessment.
Students who are not seeking to be Certified but who wish to take one or two of the courses that comprise the Certification may take the individual courses. CEUs will be awarded for each class, but not Certification.
